No stranger to the melancholy of joy and sorrow, Whiskey Hill combines these sentiments to create music you can feel in your bones. The duo out of Kansas City, MO sing tales of lost love, adventure, grief, and life in the heart of the Midwest.
The band is composed of Patricia Murphy on Violin/Mandolin/Vocals and Jonathan Tucker on Guitar/Vocals. The duo experiments within the diversity of their instrumentation using it to weave complex stories sung with a believability; bearing their hearts with every note.
With a ubiquitous sound calling back to artists like Gregory Isaac Isakov, Nickel Creek, and the Civil Wars, Whiskey Hill is carving out their own sound and refining their songwriting craft along the way. You can find them performing in Kansas City and the surrounding Midwest area, and online everywhere.
Listen & Watch - Chapter 2 Sessions
On their debut full-length, Paloma, Whiskey Hill does everything from quiet duets to big, full-band performances, demonstrating abilities which go far beyond what you might expect from a pair of voices and acoustic instruments. The harmonies and instrumentation pair perfectly with one another, rising and falling as though Murphy and Tucker have been playing for decades, rather than less than two years.

If there are eyes that glisten as though they’ve lived a thousand years, Patricia Murphy’s voice is the sonic equivalent. In Cut You Down, the standout single from Whiskey Hill’s debut LP Paloma, her vocal presence embodies the weight of experience. Alongside guitarist and backing vocalist Jonathan Tucker, Murphy visualises a sound that transcends epochs and style. The chanteuse of Americana Folk keeps her arrangements roots-deep and the air that she weaves through her sound weightless, resulting in a panoramic score that sweeps you up within its accordance.
